Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) has signed a contract with the Defense Ministry for the supply of fixed-wing cargo aircraft CN235-220, worth Rp748 billion.

PT DI President Director Gita Amperiawan and Chief of the Defense Facility Board Rear Admiral Yusuf Jauhari signed the contract in the presence of President Joko Widodo and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto during the Indo Defence 2022 Expo & Forum at JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta on Wednesday.

"Thank you to the Defense Ministry for its trust in PT DI in fulfilling its Navy Aviation Center's needs. PT DI is always committed to improving the quality and innovation of its products to support the military armament system for safeguarding the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," Amperiawan remarked.

The CN235-220 will be the seventh such aircraft to be used for the Indonesia Navy (TNI AL).

Since 2013, the Indonesian Navy has used CN235-220s as maritime patrol aircraft.

The CN235-220 aircraft has been modified and upgraded on its whole avionic system using the latest technology, including full glass cockpit and integrated digital display.

The local industrial content for the manufacturing of CN235-220 reaches 38.74 percent.

At the Indo Defence 2022 Expo & Forum, PT DI also displays amphibious aircraft N219 and other types of planes, including CN235-220 and NC212i as well as the KFX/IFX jet fighter.
