"We have given compensation worth Rp15 million to the families of the dead victims," Rismaharini informed here on Wednesday while handing over compensation to the families of four flood victims.
The minister also provided daily necessities such as essential goods packages for each kin of the victims, in addition to school supplies, men's sholat (prayer) kits, women's sholat kits, kitchen utensils, tableware, and children's toys.
One of the beneficiaries of the assistance, Holisah, said that she did not expect to lose her husband, Madarif, in the flood.
Upon hearing that Holisah wanted to educate her two children, Rismaharini spontaneously announced educational assistance for her.
"She asked for education assistance for children, and we helped pay for one year," she informed.
The flood, which was triggered by heavy rains since October 27, 2022, submerged three sub-districts in South Lampung—Katibung, Candipuro, and Sidomulyo.
It left hundreds of homes in the three sub-districts inundated, with the floodwaters reaching a height of three meters.
The Social Affairs Ministry has mobilized Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana) to help affected residents.
The Tagana have been tasked with helping evacuate residents, collecting data on victims, and distributing logistical assistance.
Furthermore, South Lampung Tagana and the provincial Social Office have set up a public kitchen in Banyumas village to produce 1,600 food packages for flood-affected people.
On October 28, the ministry distributed initial assistance consisting of instant food, clothing, blankets, sanitary pad, and tents, among other things.
On Wednesday, Minister Rismaharini distributed additional logistical assistance to affected residents in South Lampung, consisting of children's food, ready-to-eat food, blankets, mattresses, clothing, and family kits.
