"By switching to digital TV, people will enjoy better quality because the picture and the sound are clearer, and the technology is more sophisticated," Ministry's Director General of Public Information and Communication, Usman Kansong, stated here on Saturday.
Kansong drew attention to the benefits of migrating to digital terrestrial TV broadcast to ensure that all Indonesians can understand the government's intention of implementing the analog switch-off (ASO) program, especially in the Greater Jakarta area, since November 3, 2022.

In addition to better picture quality, digital TV offers more content due to the increasing number of channels, and people can enjoy the service for free.
“Digital TV broadcast is free-to-air and not subscription TV, so people do not need to subscribe or use the internet data package," Kansong remarked.
There are several advantages for broadcasters, who have migrated from analog to digital, in terms of adopting the latest technology and keeping up with the global developments in TV broadcasting.
ASO also prepares broadcasting industry players to have sound resilience in competing in the era of convergence.

"Investment will be more efficient in the long run in line with the potential for shared infrastructure utilization in the era of digital TV," the director general remarked.
Meanwhile, for the country, ASO is deemed to provide enormous benefits in the use of digital dividends, for instance, improving internet services and special channels for disaster warnings.
With the analog switch-off, utilization of the 700-MHz frequency spectrum can become more efficient.
"(ASO) provides multiple effects for the digital economy sector and additional income for the state budget from the Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) sector. In addition, there will be a potential significant increase in GDP (Gross Domestic Product)," he remarked.
