"Pfizer is still safe; the stock is still sufficient. Five million (doses have) arrived, and the stock in regions is still more than 1 million. Thus, there are around 6 million (Pfizer doses in total)," he informed after the 2022 Role Model Health Workers Awards event here on Friday.
Of the 5 million Pfizer doses that have arrived, 2.5 million doses have been distributed to provinces, districts, and cities, he said. Meanwhile, another 2.5 million doses have been stored by the central government and will be distributed to regions in need of vaccine supply.
"Alhamdulillah (thank God), the injection rate has increased, from previously around 30 thousand, now it has reached 70 thousand (doses) per day," he noted.
Regarding the health facilities that do not have vaccine stocks yet, Rondonuwu said that their availability will depend on the regional governments' pace of distributing the vaccines.
In addition to the Pfizer vaccine, the ministry will soon distribute the locally-made Indovac vaccine for public use, both as a primary vaccine and as a booster vaccine, he informed.
"We also have the Indovac vaccine from (state-owned pharmaceutical firm) Bio Farma. It is a halal vaccine, and we have five million (Indovac doses); we will distribute them in the near future," he added.
On Tuesday, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin had said that the locally-made vaccines, Indovac and Inavac, will start to be administered to the community this November.
According to data provided by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of November 10, 2022, the third or booster dose has been provided to 65,601,788 of 234,666,020 targeted recipients.
