This collaboration with the Dukcapil of the Home Affairs Ministry is very helpful for our work.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Home Affairs Ministry is collaborating with the National Police to implement face recognition technology to secure the G20 Summit, which will be held in Nusa Dua, Bali Province, on November 15–16, 2022.

The facial recognition system has been synchronized with the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department’s (Bareskrim’s) Indonesian Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) as well as the ministry’s Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil).

Director general of Dukcapil, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, reviewed the implementation of the system, which involves the use of surveillance cameras or CCTVs located at a number of locations in the province, at the Bali Regional Police Command Center in Denpasar City, Bali, on Friday (November 11).

He said that he was pleased that overall, the system has been implemented well.

"I hope that Dukcapil’s data can contribute greatly to prevent any crime and be able to optimally support the work of the police which uses face recognition technology," he added in a press release received on Saturday.

Head of the Bareskrim Inafis Center Brigadier General Mashudi expressed his gratitude to the Home Affairs Ministry for its support in the implementation of face recognition.

"This collaboration with the Dukcapil of the Home Affairs Ministry is very helpful for our work. We can quickly identify the perpetrators and victims as well as prevent crime since we can quickly recognize them," he said.

Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian expressed strong support for the synergy and urged the Dukcapil to provide full support for the face recognition system.

"I understand very well the use of Dukcapil’s data. When I was the Kapolri (head of the National Police), I (also) used Dukcapil data to identify crime perpetrators as well as crime and plane crash victims. Everything (the use of the data) is very fast and has great benefits. Hence, I ask for this synergy to be strengthened," he said.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the security for the G20 Summit will involve the use of sophisticated technology.

"We expect that with this technology, we will be able to minimize unwanted risks," he added.
