With the global need to deal with climate change, the World Bank is ready to support Indonesia’s energy transition steps to reduce carbon emissions, and through the development of new and renewable energy such as solar, wind, and hydro energyJakarta (ANTARA) - Managing Director of Operations at World Bank Axel van Trotsenburg expressed his support for Indonesia's energy transition during a meeting with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on Tuesday, held on the sidelines of the Business 20 (B20) Summit in Bali.
"With the global need to deal with climate change, the World Bank is ready to support Indonesia’s energy transition steps to reduce carbon emissions, and through the development of new and renewable energy such as solar, wind, and hydro energy," Trotsenburg said here.
The B20 Summit, held on November 13–14, under the Sherpa Track of G20 Indonesia brought the international business community from the sectors of government, banking, telecommunications, finance, pharmaceuticals, retail, and technology, together to share their views.

According to Minister Hartarto, Indonesia will continue to encourage the use of new renewable energy by prioritizing sustainability in efforts to transform the Indonesian economy.
To overcome current economic challenges, the Indonesian government is seeking to maintain employment and prevent the adverse impacts of economic pressures, such as extreme poverty.
Indonesia has also been able to maintain a positive trend in its economic growth this year, with the nation experiencing growth of 5.72 percent in the third quarter, the minister noted.
"Indonesia is currently developing hydro energy in the North Kalimantan region. Later, the generation of electricity is not only to meet Indonesia's needs, but can be sold to Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines," he said.

Furthermore, the World Bank also said that it is ready to share its experience and expertise with Indonesia.
At the meeting, Minister Hartarto was accompanied by House member Meutya Hafid; the ministry’s secretary Susiwijono Moegiarso; chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Arsjad Rasjid; vice-chairperson of Kadin, Shinta Kamdani; and the ministry’s assistant deputy for European, African, and Middle Eastern economic cooperation, Fajar Wirawan Harijo.
Meanwhile, van Trotsenburg was accompanied by the World Bank’s country director for Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Satu Kahkonen.
