The total surplus in the period from January to October 2022 exceeds a trade surplus of US$35.42 billion for throughout last year
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s trade balance posted a surplus of US$5.67 billion in October 2022, with exports crossing US$24.81 billion and imports touching US$19.14 billion, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has informed.



October marked the 38th straight month of trade surplus since May 2020, deputy chief for distribution and service statistics at BPS, Sutanto, informed at an online press briefing on Tuesday.



Indonesia recorded the largest surplus in its trade with India, the United States, and China, he said.

Indonesia posted a surplus of US$1.69 billion in its trade with India, with mineral fuels, animal/vegetable fats and oils, and iron and steel contributing to the surplus.



Meanwhile, a surplus of US$1.28 billion was recorded in trade with the United States, with machines, electrical appliances and spare parts, animal /vegetable fats and oils, and footwear contributing to the surplus.



Further, Indonesia logged a surplus of US$1.04 billion in its trade with China, with mineral fuels, iron and steel, and animal/vegetable fats and oils contributing to the surplus.

However, Indonesia recorded a trade deficit with Australia (US$533.8 million), Brazil (US$314 million), and South Korea (US$188.8 million).



Cumulatively, Indonesia registered a trade surplus of US$45.52 billion in the year ended October 31, 2022, up 47.32 percent compared to the same period the previous year.



"The total surplus in the period from January to October 2022 exceeds a trade surplus of US$35.42 billion for throughout last year," Sutanto informed.
