Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the public relations division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo on Thursday thanked the Balinese people for contributing to the success of the G20 Summit.

"We, the National Police, with regard to Bali situation on security at the G20 Summit, would like to thank the people of Bali and tourists in Bali for participating in helping to keep the situation conducive," he said in a written statement received here on Thursday.

The G20 Summit officially concluded on Wednesday (November 16, 2022), he added. The international event, which was joined by several heads of state and government, went smoothly.

The National Police also commended tourists and pecalang (traditional security) for helping implement security measures on the island.

The pecalang proved important because they could communicate the situation on the ground to the local people, he said.

"The presence of pecalang who were able to communicate with the people, thank God, the community was very helpful and supported the smooth running of the G20 Summit," he added.

The National Police also apologized to the Balinese people for disruptions such as traffic jams during the event since, for the past few days, a number of roads had to be closed to allow the G20 delegations to pass.

"The National Police also apologize that in this activity, we have closed many activities, then community activities have also been restricted," he remarked.

He said that during the G20 Summit, the situation was conducive and there were no incidents. Though there were several cyberattacks, the task force managed to address them.

"In general, I don't think there have been any (incidents). There have been cyberattacks that the Law Enforcement Task Force has mitigated and coordinated with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and National Intelligence Agency (BIN), all of which have been anticipated. Thank God, everything is going well," Prasetyo added.

The National Police coordinated with other ministries and agencies to ensure thorough security at the event, he said.

He further said he expects more tourists to visit Bali following the success of the G20 Summit, which was conducted amid strong security.

"The holding of the G20 Summit can run successfully and safely so that Bali is truly safe to visit. The increase in tourists is also in line with the increase in the economy," he added.
