Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned telecommunications enterprise PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), through a collaboration with the Community Development Center (CDC) and the Telkom Education Foundation, has launched the Telkom Digi-Up 2022 program to prepare digital talents.

The program is the result of synergy between the industry and educational institutions for improving students' capability and encouraging the sustainability of the digital education cluster through the development of future digital talents.

"The Telkom Digi-Up Program is expected to contribute to minimizing the competence gap in the education industry," senior general manager of Telkom's Community Development Center, Hery Susanto, said in a statement issued on Thursday.

"This becomes Telkom's contribution to prepare digitally talented young generation with global competence to support Indonesia to become a developed country," he added.

Telkom Digi-Up was launched online last week. The launch themed “Escalating Digital Skills Competencies for Future Digital Talents” was joined by more than 500 participants.

Telkom Digi-Up features a variety of training programs and national standard digital certifications (BNSP), which encompass a variety of fields and jobs to cater to the entirety of students' interests.

The fields and jobs comprise junior graphic design, junior multimedia designer (UI/UX), junior network administrator, junior web developer, and junior web programmer (Phyton). The program also includes a Youth Competition for high school students from across Indonesia.

EYP at Telkom's business service division, Eddy Sofryano, said that Telkom has continued to contribute to efforts to prepare digital talents in an optimal manner.

Telkom is supporting vocational education by collaborating with the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry to provide educational solutions that connect to the industry.

"In 2030, we need 47 million digital talents. Thus, we need to prepare them so that vocational graduates can meet the demand for digital talents in the future," ministry official Wardani Sugiyanto said.

To meet the demand for digital talents, a project-based learning strategy has been devised for vocational school students.

This learning model is centered on students carrying out advanced learning that seeks to find real solutions to real problems.
