Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Transportation Ministry has lauded aviation stakeholders for managing VVIP, domestic, and international flight schedules, which involved handling more than 200 takeoffs/landings per day, at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport during the G20 Summit.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi thanked the Foreign Affairs Ministry, military, police, Customs Office, Immigration Office, Port Health Office (KKP), state-run air traffic services company AirNav Indonesia, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Region IV Airport Authority, and officials from his ministry for their hard work.

"I (also) appreciate airlines, which have maintained smooth mobility and provided good service to (G20 Summit) delegates who do not use private or official aircraft," he said at the airport in Badung District, Bali Province, on Friday.

Ensuring the smooth operation of VVIP and regular flights at the same time was quite challenging, however, with good synergy among all stakeholders, all tasks could be carried out well, he noted.

"It was highly difficult given the limited air space and plan parking slot as more than 20 countries required aircraft parking areas," the minister added.

Furthermore, he said that the experience of managing flights during the G20 Summit was a valuable one for all aviation stakeholders in Indonesia, and it could become a benchmark for providing aviation services during future national and international events.

“The G20 Summit is indeed over, but I hope that the spirit of (providing good aviation) services shown during the G20 Summit can become our daily work ethic to provide the best performance for the nation," he added.

From Thursday (November 17, 2022) until Friday morning, a total of 17 official and regular aircraft carrying G20 leaders and delegates departed from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

The aircraft included the official planes of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, as well as a commercial aircraft used by president of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Mohammed Al Jasser.

Indonesia hosted the G20 Summit on November 15–16, 2022, in Bali.
