The ministry's Director General of Oil and Gas, Tutuka Ariadji, said EOR technology has become the key to reaching Indonesia's oil production target.
"To reach the target of oil production of one million barrels per day in 2030, we encourage innovation in advanced technology for oil and gas. We accelerate and expand the implementation of EOR and non-conventional oil and gas. Regarding EOR, this year, we hold the EOR Festival 2022 to get innovations, and (the festival) will become a stimulus for more aggressive EOR implementation," Ariadji noted in a statement here on Saturday.
Head of the Center for Oil and Gas Technology (Lemigas) Ariana Soemanto remarked that the EOR Festival 2022 is a competition on EOR technology. Winners of the festival will be announced in December 2022.
Over 15 EOR projects were part of the competition, divided into the two categories of oil/gas and laboratory. The participants comprised oil and gas contractors, provider technology, laboratories, and academicians, he stated.
EOR technology is a method to increase production from oil wells by injecting special materials, such as chemical material, CO2 and microbial, to get oil reservoir.
"EOR projects that are part of the EOR Festival include the EOR microbial injection, electrical stimulation oil recovery, vibro seismic impact technology, CO2 injection, chemical injection, and laboratory studies on surfactant and polymer. Implementation of the EOR project is expected to increase oil production," he stated.
The competition's judge, Usman Pasarai, said some aspects assessed in the competition are the level of success to increase oil production, level of domestic component (TKDN), economy, innovation, sustainability and supply chain, and project management," he remarked.
