Continue to create and innovate together while understanding the importance of intellectual property protection
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Law and Human Rights Ministry bestowed awards on parties deemed to have participated in developing and cultivating the growth of intellectual property in the country.

"We express our deepest appreciation to everyone, who continue to help the government in developing Indonesia's intellectual property ecosystem to recover the national economy," Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly remarked here, Monday.

The awards were bestowed on several parties: public figures, regional governments, universities, institutions, and communities.

The ministry gave out 37 awards in three categories. Some 17 of them were given to partners that participate in driving the growth of intellectual property's creativity and innovation to recover the national economy.

Subsequently, 10 awards were given to top 10 universities with the highest copyrights applications during the 2020-2022 period and another 10 awards were given to top 10 universities, with the highest patent applications in the 2020-2022 period.

Recipients for the first category include the provincial governments of Jakarta, West Java, Banten, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan.

Laoly expects that the awards would motivate and encourage other related parties to produce intellectual property creativity and innovation with economic value and can be commercialized.

"Continue to create and innovate together while understanding the importance of intellectual property protection," he affirmed.

Earlier, during a roving seminar event, here, Monday, Laoly emphasized the need for Indonesians to be ready to face the innovation and creation war amid the current developments marked with the 4.0 era.

This translates to the fact that people cannot continue to rely or depend on existing natural resources. Creativity and innovation should be produced to drive the growth of a country's economy.
