The use of BIM technology and the readiness of human resources in operating software and hardware are two aspects that must work in synergy and sustainably
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry is preparing human resources with competence in building information modeling (BIM) and geospatial construction.

"The use of BIM technology and the readiness of human resources in operating software and hardware are two aspects that must work in synergy and sustainably," secretary general of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry Mohammad Zainal Fatah stated at the BIM Innovation Conference here on Thursday.

Fatah noted that the ministry, through the directorate general of construction development, continues to strive to encourage competency improvement in the BIM aspect, one of which was through collaborative efforts with stakeholders that include software service provider vendors in the BIM aspect.

"Through the programs designed in this cooperation agreement, it is expected that the conducted training can be (effective and efficient), provide benefits for stakeholders, and can be implemented in national infrastructure development. What is more important is being able to grow BIM Awareness for each participant so as to create a good and sustainable BIM environment," he noted.

One of the agendas in the BIM Innovation Conference, hosted both in-person and virtually on November 24, 2022, was the signing of a Cooperation Agreement with Trimble Navigation Singapore Pte. Ltd.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the directorate general and PT. Trimble Solutions SEA Pte. Ltd at the Sepaku Semoi Dam on August 27, 2022.

The cooperation is a follow-up effort in organizing training using geospatial technology and equipment, so it is expected to offer a more comprehensive understanding of BIM.

"From the MoU, we will have 500 instructors and train 1,500 state civil apparatus and prospective construction workers, as well as the free use of 450 Trimble Structures and Trimble Connect Licenses to create BIM Experts in the future," director general of construction development Yudha Mediawan noted.

He said that until now, the cooperation between the Regional Construction Services Center (BJKW) and Trimble resulted in the BIM instructor training, with a total of 64 participants, as well as a BIM training, with a total of 1,866 participants. This was owing to the enthusiasm of prospective construction workers and academics for the future implementation of BIM.
