The presence of WADA and SEARADO is also intended to remind all sports stakeholders in Indonesia on the importance of anti-doping across the world.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and Southeast Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (SEARADO) will attend and provide materials in the National Anti-Doping Forum to be held at Sultan Hotel, here, next Wednesday.

The two international organizations were invited with the expectations that they can identify, conduct mapping, and provide recommendations on what IADO should do, Head of the Indonesian Anti-Doping Organization (IADO) Gatot S. Dewa Broto stated in a statement on Sunday.

IADO needs suggestions, as Indonesia will be the host of various international events, such as the U-20 FIFA World Cup, FIBA World Cup, and ANOC World Beach Games 2023, he noted .

Moreover, Indonesia will participate in several international events, such as the EA Games XXXII/2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and Asian Games XIX/2022 in Hangzhou, China.

"The presence of WADA and SEARADO is also intended to remind all sports stakeholders in Indonesia of the importance of anti-doping across the world," Broto remarked.

With this, the two organizations will remind participants that anti-doping activity is also the responsibility of all stakeholders despite the fact that IADO is the only officially-recognized national anti-doping organization, he added.

Indonesia continues to reform itself on anti-doping after having earlier received a sanction from WADA in October 2021 in the form of a ban from raising the national flag at various international events.

This step was taken since the Indonesia Anti-Doping Institution (LADI) was deemed to not comply with the World Anti-Doping Code regulation. After various efforts, the sanction was lifted at the start of February 2022.

LADI's function and duty was then changed by IADO that immediately took actions to conduct reformation in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code.

The agency usually consults with WADA and SEARADO as well as other national anti-doping organizations.

The goal is not only to fix the organization's performance but also to catch up with other similar organizations in the region.
