Currently, we are looking for two more (relocation) areas in Mande village and Pacet village.
Cianjur, W Java (ANTARA) - The head of Cianjur district, Herman Suherman, has said that his office will prepare three relocation sites for residents affected by the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that rattled the district last Monday (November 21, 2022).

"We have already had (an area for relocation) in Sirnagalih village. Currently, we are looking for two more (relocation) areas in Mande village and Pacet village," he informed at the Cianjur District Head’s Office Hall, here, on Monday.

The relocation sites in Sirnagalih, Mande, and Pacet villages measure 2.5 hectares, 4 hectares, and 10 hectares, respectively.

Still, the district head said, his office will need approval from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Land Agency (BPN), and the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Agency (PVMBG) to use the three areas for relocation.

It is expected that the houses constructed at the relocation sites will be occupied by residents by the end of December 2022, he added.

The homes will accommodate people from Cianjur district who are currently living in disaster-prone areas, he informed.

However, the government is still assessing which regions can be designated as disaster-prone areas, Suherman said.

"For instance, we may relocate people living in Cijedil village, Cugenang sub-district (which has been affected by the earthquake the most),” he added.

The district head prepared a decree (SK) regarding post-earthquake mitigation on Monday (November 28).
