We would like to thank you on behalf of KPU, the KPU ranks, and the KPU family to President Joko Widodo, because as the KPU (exists) based on the 1945 Constitution, which has a permanent and independent character, it is only this time that the presidJakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari lauded the government's support for the on-time implementation of the 2024 general elections.
According to Asy'ari, the government's support is proven by President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) presence at the KPU National Consolidation event in Ancol here on Friday.
"We can say that Mr. President's presence is a form of support from the government to KPU and shows that elections will be held punctually (every) five years," Asy'ari remarked at the National Consolidation event.
He expressed gratitude to the KPU staff, at the central, provincial, and district/city levels, for President Jokowi's presence at the national consolidation event. It was the first time that Jokowi had attended an event organized by KPU.

In addition, Asy'ari said that the KPU National Consolidation activity was held in the context of the 2024 elections readiness and carried the theme of "KPU Consolidation to Improve 2024 Election Services."

"Why did we raise this topic? It is because we know that Law No. 7 of 2017 concerning elections gives a mandate to KPU as a service institution," he explained.
Asy'ari elaborated that as a service institution, KPU serves two parties, first, the voters, to be able to exercise their right to vote, and secondly, the political parties, individual participants or candidates; Regional Representative Council (DPD) candidates; presidential-vice presidential candidates; and candidates of governors-deputy governors, district heads-deputy district heads, and mayors-deputy mayors.
Asy'ari expects that at the national consolidation event, Jokowi can give directives and bring enthusiasm to the KPU to make the 2024 general elections and regional head elections a success.'
