Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has asked all ministries, institutions, and relevant parties to work hard to eradicate nutritional problems in the country by 2030.

"In the last four years, efforts to accelerate stunting reduction have been directed at achieving the target of 14 percent prevalence by 2024. More than that, we want all forms of nutritional problems to be eradicated from Indonesia by 2030, in line with the target of SDGs (sustainable development goals),” he said at the “National Stunting Forum” here on Tuesday.

Amin further said that he wants Indonesia to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its independence in 2045 as a developed country that has excellent human resources with high global competitiveness.

To achieve this end, nutritional problems like stunting cannot be tackled by only reducing their prevalence, he said adding, it will require hard work to build the quality of the nation's future generation who will continue the "relay" of leadership and development in the future.

He expressed the hope that the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision would be realized.

The “National Stunting Forum 2022” is an essential momentum to carry out evaluation, introspection, and reflection regarding the assistance provided to families at risk of stunting in regions, he said.

This is needed since there are still reports of problems regarding the provision of integrated assistance by health teams and family assistance teams (TPK) in the field.

During Tuesday's event, he stressed that the time left to achieve the target of 14 percent stunting prevalence is less than two years.

Though stunting prevalence has been reduced from 30.8 percent in 2018 to 24.4 percent in 2021, the government's real work results for this year will reflect in the Indonesian Nutritional Status Study (SSGI) 2022 by the Ministry of Health, which is still awaited.

Therefore, he asked all parties to work efficiently to optimize the eradication of stunting in order to reduce its prevalence by 2–3 percent at the least in 2022.

"Taking into account the hard work, smart work, and collaborative work that has been encouraged so far, I hope the decreasing trend of stunting prevalence will also continue this year," he said.
