Teenagers and people with disabilities are the targets, with higher risk of being infected with COVID-19, as compared to other groups, Head of the Yogyakarta Health Office Pembajun Setyaning Astutie noted here, Thursday.
In particular, teenagers have high mobility since they are in the productive age, she explained.
Moreover, the two groups became priority targets since their coverage for booster vaccination is still low, she pointed out.
To optimize vaccination, the Yogyakarta Health Office collaborates with the Yogyakarta Education, Youth, and Sports Office as well as other components and institutions.
Based on the health office's data until December 7, 2022, booster vaccination coverage for teenagers in Yogyakarta still reached 30,094, or 9.66 percent of the total target of 311,596 people.
"We can actually optimize all targets, but we are saving that for next year. For the end of this year, we are focusing on groups with low coverage," she noted.
In relation to the COVID-19 vaccine stock availability in Yogyakarta, Astutie made assurance that there is no problem and the stock was sufficient for all target groups.
Conversely, she pointed out that the people's initiative for booster vaccination was still low until this day.
During the work meeting for discussion on acceleration of vaccination here on Monday, she noted that 17 thousand vaccine doses were still available and had been distributed to districts or cities in Yogyakarta.
Head of the Health Resources Department at the Yogyakarta Health Office Agus Priyanta noted that the booster vaccination coverage as of December 7, 2022, in the province had reached 1,292,247 people.
This figure constitutes 44.87 percent from the total target of 3,181,285 people.
