Jakarta (ANTARA) - Building public trust in the National Defense Forces (TNI) is the responsibility of all personnel, without exception, Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Yudo Margono, has emphasized.

"Related to the TNI becoming the highest public trusted institution, this is our shared responsibility," Margono, who has been appointed as the new TNI Commander, said after flagging off the “Perti Saka Bahari Sailing Camp” here on Friday.

He expressed his gratefulness over a Poltracking Indonesia survey that has ranked TNI at the top as the institution with the highest public trust.

"These achievements must be used by the personnel to work harder in maintaining the trust of the community wherever they are," he said.

Margono also asked that the trust be maintained as well as possible. He emphasized that the TNI, especially the Navy, will continue to maintain public trust by continuing its good performance and programs.

In addition, he said he will take strict action and carry out an evaluation of individuals at his institution who cause public trust to decline.

"We maintain what is good, and evaluate what is lacking and what must be improved, so that the public trust in TNI can keep going," he added.

The survey, which tracked observed public trust in state agencies and democratic institutions, was carried out from November 21–27, 2022. Earlier, executive director of Poltracking Indonesia, Hanta Yuda, revealed that the TNI ranked as the most trusted institution by the public.

The Poltracking survey pegged public satisfaction with the TNI at 68.6 percent, followed by the presidential institution (62.2 percent), the General Election Supervisory Agency (61.9 percent), the General Elections Commission (61 percent), and the Supreme Court (60.6 percent).

According to a survey conducted by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) on August 31, 2022, TNI garnered the highest level of public trust at 93.2 percent.
