Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government had implemented a development policy with the theme of productivity for an inclusive and sustainable economic transformation in 2023, Coordinating Minister for the Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated.

At an event accessed here on Thursday, he noted that the policy included eradicating extreme poverty, improving the quality of human resources in the medical and education sectors, as well as the Pre-Employment Card Program.

He said tackling unemployment by adding more decent jobs would encourage the recovery of the business sector, especially MSMEs, as a pillar of national economy, as well as encouraging industrial revitalization and improving applied research.

In addition, it will encourage low-carbon development and energy transition, promote the development of basic infrastructure and sanitation, as well as the development of the Nusantara Capital City.

The minister said in 2023, the government will follow up on investment commitments that resulted from the G20 Summit in Bali: the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) of US$20 billion for clean energy in Indonesia and the Asia Zero Emission Community that has committed to providing US$500 million for Indonesia.

In addition, it will follow up on the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment in the form of funding of US$600 billion from the G7 countries in the form of loans and grants for sustainable infrastructure projects for developing countries.

In 2023, Indonesia will become the Chair of ASEAN, bringing up the theme of "Asean Matters, Epicentrum of Growth," which aims to strengthen the position of a stable and peaceful region, able to bring in opportunities and income, and increasing global trust in Indonesia, the minister remarked.

Hartarto is optimistic that the policy would be able to push significant progress in various economic sectors as well as mitigate global challenges, as the policy is equipped with strong fundamentals, coupled with Indonesia's increasing position in the international economic arena.
