There should be a change in a system that is not friendly toward women.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Bintang Puspayoga encouraged the improvement of women's capacity in politics to handle the 2024 General Election.
"When we seek to encourage women's representation in the parliament, we cannot stop on just at affirmative action," the minister noted in a statement here on Thursday.
"Improvement of women's capacity in politics should also became our focus," she remarked.

According to Puspayoga, political parties play an important role in preparing women to become involved in politics.
Moreover, they serve as a space for women to obtain knowledge, expand their understanding, improve their political skills, and receive moral support, she stated.
"Political parties can also help enlighten people on the importance of women's participation in the political party," she remarked.
"This can lead to more women participating in the decision-making process that can give birth to responsive, inclusive, and humanist policies," she stated.
The minister is optimistic that there are still opportunities to delve into the potential and support the presence of quality women to become involved in politics, specifically during the 2024 General Election.
Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection's Gender Equality Deputy Lenny N. Rosalin supports gender mainstreaming in politics to encourage the fulfillment of the 30-percent quota for women.

"There should be a change in a system that is not friendly toward women," she emphasized.
"To this end, we need to support women, who delve into the world of politics by promoting stories of women, who serve as an example that can provide spirit and inspiration," she remarked.
Rosalin said that women should actively involve themselves in various fields, primarily politics, given that women's interests are not singular and not all of them can be represented by men.
