Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin chaired the plenary meeting of the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) at the Vice Presidential Palace to evaluate the institution's performance until the end of 2022.

"Today, we are focused on evaluating the progress of achievements until the end of 2022 and determining steps to accelerate it," he said at the opening of the meeting here on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Amin, who is the chief executive of KNEKS, reiterated several directions that were conveyed at the previous KNEKS Plenary Meeting on May 20, 2022.

The directions included developing the halal industry and optimizing halal industrial areas, compiling sharia economic data, strengthening the certification business, and accelerating the halal certification for micro and small businesses (UMK).

He also issued directions concerning the need to form a Regional Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KDEKS).

Amin emphasized that all of these directions are tasks that need to be pursued together.

He also thanked all ministries and non-ministerial government agencies, regional governments, and related stakeholders for building cooperation and synergy.

“Today's plenary meeting at the same time confirms our enthusiasm and intention to jointly realize Indonesia as the world's leading halal producer," he said.

"Therefore, I would like to hear progress reports until the end of 2022, including the obstacles encountered and the support needed to achieve the target," he added.

The plenary meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK), Muhadjir Effendy; Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati; Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno; and chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Mahendra Siregar.
