The public can see which figure has been a good leader; and which one only works according to the routines.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Home Affairs Ministry handed out the “Innovative Government Award (IGA) 2022” here on Friday to a number of local governments for developing and implementing innovative programs to advance their regions.

"Congratulations to our colleagues (local government officers) who win the award. Thanks to the extraordinary hard work, we appreciate it. Furthermore, for those who have not been able to get the award, we hope this event can motivate (you)," Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian remarked.

He expressed the hope that the event would also serve as a reference for the community in assessing the performance of regional leaders.

"The public can see which figure has been a good leader; and which one only works according to the routines,” he said.

On the same occasion, Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas said that the innovations implemented by the winners of the award could also be applied by other local governments so that all Indonesian regions can become more advanced.

"We will emulate the good innovations (in other regions) later. Thus, Mr. Home Affairs Minister, I will ask (for your permission) for great innovations, we will replicate them,” he remarked.

He said that the attempt is aimed at assisting other regional governments so that they do not need to conduct a comparative study before implementing the innovations.

The Home Affairs Ministry bestowed the awards in several categories.

The governments of Banyuwangi, Bogor, Wonogiri, Tabalong, Sragen, Temanggung, Situbondo, Pariaman, Indragiri Hilir, Hulu Sungai Selatan, Pamekasan, and Tanggamus bagged the awards in the “Most Innovative District” category.

Meanwhile, the “Most Innovative City” awards were given to Mojokerto, Pekanbaru, Surabaya, Bekasi, Cimahi, Mataram, Semarang, Padang Panjang, Jambi, Bengkulu, Serang, and Sukabumi.
