We wait and must not disclose the contents of this report before the president reads or accepts it
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD confirmed to have received a recommendation report from the Human Rights Violation Settlement Team (PPHAM).

"The report and recommendations submitted by the PPHAM team to us consist of all cases of serious human rights violations, in general, and special reports based on the characteristics of each case," Mahfud stated here on Thursday.

According to the minister, the report will not be revealed as it will be submitted first to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He said, the president should be the first person to see the contents.

The report was submitted by PPHAM Chairperson Makarim Wibisono at the Ministry's office in Jakarta.

"The contents will not be revealed today, but it will be delivered to the president soon after the new year. We wait and must not disclose the contents of this report before the president reads or accepts it," Mahfud emphasized.

In addition to containing the details and analysis of factors that caused gross human rights violations in the past, the PPHAM report has recommendations for reparation actions for victims and their families as well as preventive measures against human rights violations.

"This team is not looking for who is at fault because it is only supporting the victims with social, political, and psychological recovery," Mahfud remarked.

There are 14 cases in the PPHAM report, including the cases in Wasior and Wamena, and in Paniai, Central Papua, that occurred three weeks after Jokowi became president during his first term in 2014.

Meanwhile, PPHAM Chairperson Makarim Wibisono said his side had made all-out efforts in fulfilling the mandate to bring to light factors that cause 14 serious human rights crimes in the past, as mandated by Presidential Decree No. 17 of 2022.

"We convey (the report) in two ways. First, the results from the PPHAM team. Second, the recommendation to Mr President to make a statement regarding past serious human rights violations," Wibisono stated.
