Assistant chief of police operations (Asops), Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendy, said that preparations for Aman Nusa II Operation have been carried out following the completion of the 2022 Lilin Operation.
"This Monday marked the end of the 2022 Lilin Operation. The upcoming operation is the Aman Nusa II Operation related to natural disasters that are still occurring in several areas," Effendy informed in Jakarta on Monday.
The 2022 Lilin Operation started on December 23, 2022, and ended on January 2, 2023. Security activities will continue with Enhanced Police Activities (KRYD) from January 3–9.
"We will carry out KRYD and prepare for the Aman Nusa II Operation," he added.
During the operation, Polri personnel, who are members of the contingency task force, will focus on preventing and responding to emergency situations, such as natural disasters (floods, landslides, and strong winds), as well as transportation accidents, he informed.
Effendy said that Polri has deployed search and rescue (SAR) personnel and infrastructure to assist in disaster mitigation, such as evacuating victims, identifying victims, distributing disaster emergency response assistance, healing trauma, and helping people repair homes affected by disasters.
Regarding the results of an analysis and evaluation (Anev) carried out by the National Police on the stability of security and public order during the New Year, Head of Polri's Public Relations Division Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo said that although the situation remained conducive, several areas experienced natural disasters during the new year and on the first day of 2023.
"As of this morning, the results of the Anev report showed that all regions in Indonesia were in a conducive state of order and security during the New Year's Eve celebrations and celebrations on Sunday," he informed.
In addition, the return Christmas and New Year flow has increased, as seen on a number of roads in tourist destinations. However, Prasetyo said that the situation is under control.
"Although the return routes are congested, they can be controlled properly. Several areas where floods have occurred, such as in Central Java, have also been handled," he added.
