The new price is valid as of January 3, 2023, at 2 p.m. local time
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The State-Owned Enterprises Ministry officially announced, on Tuesday, a reduction of Rp1,100 in the price of Pertamina's Pertamax (RON 92) fuel oil, thereby decreasing, from Rp13,900 per liter to Rp12,800 per liter.

"The new price is valid as of January 3, 2023, at 2 p.m. local time," State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir stated here on Tuesday.

The government has also lowered the price of Pertamax Turbo (RON 98), which went from Rp15,200 per liter to Rp14,180 per liter since the latest price adjustment on December 1, 2022.

As for diesel, Dexlite (CN 51) -- which was priced at Rp18,300 per liter -- is currently capped at Rp16,150 per liter. Pertamina Dex (CN 53) had been adjusted, from Rp18,800 per liter to Rp16,750 per liter.

The new prices apply to provinces that adopt the five-percent Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax (PBBKB), like Jakarta.

Thohir explained that the price adjustment for Pertamax series referred to changes in crude oil prices and global oil prices.

He noted that Pertamina was making price adjustments to follow the trend of global oil prices and the average price of oil publications.

"With this adjustment, we can see that Pertamina's fuel prices are the most competitive while still taking into account some aspects, so that (they) can ensure continuity of supply and distribution of fuel to every part of the country," Thohir stated.

The minister also drew attention to the constantly vacillating price of non-subsidized fuel due to which it was evaluated regularly following market trends and mechanisms.

He also currently attempted to adjust the intervals of the announcement of non-subsidized fuel prices. Initially, it was once a month, though now, it is once a week. This step was taken to follow the dynamics in global oil prices.

The minister stated that the announcement of non-subsidized fuel price adjustments on a weekly basis would benefit the people, as they would immediately be well-informed on the matter.

Thohir admitted that he still had to consult with some stakeholders to get a grasp of the entire matter, so it would meet the applicable mechanisms and regulations.

President Director of Pertamina Nicke Widyawati said that her administration was thoroughly committed to providing and distributing fuel based on the principles of availability, accessibility, affordability, acceptability, and sustainability.

She noted that the new price, as of January 3, 2022, was in accordance with the pricing stipulated in the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's Decree Number 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022, which was an amendment to Ministerial Decree No. 62/K/12/MEM/2020 on non-subsidized fuel prices.

"Through Pertamina Patra Niaga Commercial & Trading Subholding, we continue to be committed to providing a supply of (good) quality fuel products throughout Indonesia, not only in big cities but all over the country, with competitive prices," she concluded.
