Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned food holding company ID FOOD is committed to advancing Indonesian food through various transformations and innovations and building an integrated upstream to downstream ecosystem.

ID Food Director Frans Marganda Tambunan stated that on ID Food’s first anniversary, they had planted commodities, such as rice, sugarcane, corn, palm oil, and coffee, on an area of 326,622 hectares and involved around 173,486 farmers.

"We invite the entire community, food businesses to collaborate together in advancing Indonesian food," Tambunan noted in a statement here on Monday.

In 2022, various corporate activities to strengthen the national food ecosystem have been conducted through a commitment to food distribution.

Tambunan said one of these commitments was the pledge to maintain food availability for the cooking oil commodity by distributing around 90.56 million liters of cooking oil at 6,500 locations in Indonesia.

On its first anniversary, ID Food received many greetings from several ministers, including Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Minister Limpo is optimistic that the company would continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture. He considered ID Food to have played an important role, as it is part of the agricultural ecosystem.

"Agriculture is not only in the process of cultivation but also includes the process after that, i.e., its distribution, processing, and market. ID Food covers all of those processes," Limpo emphasized.

Meanwhile, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono is upbeat about ID Food bolstering synergy and collaboration to deliver national food security and increasing the welfare of food entrepreneurs in Indonesia, especially fishermen and cultivators.

Moreover, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan also encouraged the role of ID Food to be able to strengthen the food supply chain in the country.

In a joint effort to advance Indonesian food, Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim also expressed hope that the company would strengthen cross-sectoral collaboration to develop a research ecosystem in the food sector.

"Entering its first year, I hope ID Food would become a collaborative partner for campuses in Indonesia to jointly conduct quality research and produce innovations in the food sector," the minister stated.
