Jakarta (ANTARA) - Presidential Staff Office's (KSP's) main expert staff Fadjar Dwi Wisnuwardhani said president's issuance of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation (Ciptaker) targeted accommodating state and public interests.

"President Widodo always prioritizes the interests of the state, welfare of the people, and business continuity. His efforts in prioritizing investment also aim to maintain sustainability of the country," Wisnuwardhani noted in a statement received here Tuesday.

According to KSP's main expert staff, the purpose of the Perppu was to create more employment opportunities and simplify the bureaucratic process. The issuance of Perppu replacing the job creation law was also an effort to synchronize existing regulatory rules.

The Perppu simplifies the bureaucratic process in an effort to encourage the creation of more job opportunities and the economy as a whole, he affirmed.

"We consider that this goal does not only represent one element but also stands above the interests of workers; micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) owners; and others," he remarked.

This statement also refutes the accusation that the Perppu only represents the interests of entrepreneurs. Wisnuwardhani, who is an expert in the field of economics, says that employers complain regarding the minimum wage in PP No. 78 of 2015 that is considered too high.

On the other hand, workers also complain about the minimum wage that is considered low in the Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021.

According to Wisnuwardhani, the Perppu was drafted after taking into account the people's aspirations and disseminating information to the public to avoid misperceptions.

"The minimum wage regulation in the Perppu is proof that the government has a goal to moderate, listen to aspirations of the community, and to stand above all parties and interests," he stated.

He believes that perceptions of partiality will always be encountered, both from the employers' and workers' side. This does not only occur with the Perppu but also with other government policies.

He also cleared the misperception circulating in the public regarding the.Perppu that regulates one day off work for a week. He said the regulation regarding the duration of the working day had not changed.

Wisnuwardhani said this was stated in the Perppu Article 77, Paragraph 2 of the Manpower section, where it was determined that the working time is seven hours a day that is valid for six working days a week or 8 hours a day for five working days a week.

"Beyond the agreed time, of course, it is counted as overtime, and it cannot be voluntary," he emphasized.
