Law No. 5 of 2017 on the Advancement of Culture provides space for all citizens to advance and promote their local culture, expert staff to the Central Kalimantan governor, Yuas Elko, said here on Wednesday.
“This gives convenience to every citizen to promote the culture of their respective regions,” Elko added.
He then invited the younger generation to participate in the advancement of culture by continuously increasing skills that can result in more creativity and innovations based on local culture.
One of the efforts to advance culture is collaboration, where youths can perform and organize art and cultural performances.
To support it, the provincial government is providing supporting infrastructure facilities, such as the technical implementation unit (UPT) at the Central Kalimantan Cultural Park in Palangkaraya, where many art and cultural performances have been held regularly.
Recently, an arts performance entitled “Aruh Healing Nature For Future” was held to remind the public to be smart in choosing information in the digital era, development, and technological advancements.
"Likewise, this arts performance has values we can learn for our better lives," the event's initiator, Abib Habibi Igal, said.
Aruh is a ritual that encapsulates the values of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), he informed. Nature is not only limited to forests, land, sea, rivers, water, and others, he added.
"Nature is a part of the body that, as a human being, we sometimes forget. When we want to treat nature, we must first heal. ‘Aruh Healing Nature For Future’ reflects how we are today and views the position of our bodies today toward anything, whether tradition, political, social, cultural, and educational matters,” he said.
