Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cellular operator Telkomsel, state-owned telecommunication giant PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia's (Telkom's) subsidiary, revealed that it continues to coordinate with its holding company and Indihome regarding the plan to transfer fixed broadband services from Indihome to Telkomsel.

"Currently, Telkomsel is intensively coordinating with Indihome and Telkom Group as the holding company," Telkomsel’s Corporate Communications Vice President, Saki Hamsat Bramono, stated here on Thursday evening.

The transfer of services is planned to be conducted, so that the Telkom Group can present the Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC).

FMC is a step to converge fixed broadband and mobile broadband services to provide better telecommunications performance for the public.

FMC is also widely studied, especially in Indonesia, considering that there are no telecommunications companies that have implemented this service.

For instance, the study, titled "Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) Services in Indonesia: A Conjoint Analysis of Customer Preference," revealed that FMC provides an increase in internet usage penetration for internet service providers.

The study also revealed that FMC has a positive impact in providing better internet service coverage and easing access to services due to the convergence.

Bramono further explained that the coordination aligns with his company's transformation roadmap, so that it can remain relevant amid the dynamic telecommunications industry sector.

"Telkomsel ensures that all operational processes and company policy making have prioritized the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and Business Judgement Rules in accordance with the existing regulations," he stated.

Earlier, on December 22, PT Telkom Indonesia revealed its strategy called "Five Bold Moves" as a step to maintain business and remain relevant to digital transformation in the country, one of which is by initiating FMC and transferring the fixed broadband service under Indihome to Telkomsel, which has the largest mobile broadband network in Indonesia.
