"The share of the primary energy mix for power generation from EBT currently reaches 14.11 percent," he said at a press conference on the “2022 Performance Achievement” and the “2023 Work Program” of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, as reported here on Monday.
The government is continuing to push for an increase in generating capacity to support national economic growth, Minister Tasrif added.
In 2022, the installed capacity of power plants was 81.2 GW and in 2023, it is targeted to increase to 85.1 GW.
He said that Indonesia's electrification ratio in 2022 was 99.63 percent, with the ratio of villages having access to electricity pegged at 99.76 percent.
The government is targeting that by 2023, all households in Indonesia will have access to electricity.
"Our electrification ratio reaches 99.63 percent. But we think we still need to improve the electrification program so that all regions of Indonesia can get access to electricity," said Tasrif.
"In the eastern region, this will be the focus in the future, and we will push for electricity, reaching people in remote eastern regions. We have to work on this," he added.
Meanwhile, actual electricity consumption per capita in 2022 reached 1,173 kWh/capita, an increase of 50kWh/capita from 2021.
Regarding reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the energy sector, Tasrif said Indonesia has continued to take concrete climate mitigation steps.
These steps include cutting greenhouse gas emissions, with the target raised to 31.89 percent through own efforts and 43.20 percent with the help of international support.
In 2022, the CO2 emission reduction achievement was expected to reach 91.5 million tons.
This, he said, can be achieved through mitigation actions on the implementation of EBT, energy efficiency, the application of low-carbon fuels, the use of clean generation technologies, and other activities.
In addition, the intensity of reducing our CO2 emissions has reached 0.335 tons," Tasrif added.
The government is also continuing to implement mandatory biodiesel policies to reduce imports and save foreign exchange.
He said the utilization of biodiesel for domestic use in 2022 reached 10.45 million kiloliters with foreign exchange savings of Rp122.65 trillion or US$8.34 billion.
