Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the Presidential Staff (KSP) Moeldoko stated that infrastructure development in the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan Province, had proceeded according to plans.

"The development of infrastructure had reached 15 percent," he noted while reviewing the infrastructure construction of IKN Nusantara in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, on Thursday.

Moeldoko was also accompanied by KSP Deputy I Febry Calvin Tetelepta and Head of the IKN Nusantara Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force Danis Sumadilaga.

During his visit, Moeldoko also directly observed the development of central government infrastructure, including the Presidential Palace and ministries' office.

Despite numerous weather-related obstacles, the IKN Nusantara infrastructure construction work is going well and according to plans, he noted.

Moeldoko highlighted President Joko Widodo's extraordinary enthusiasm in building a new capital city in East Kalimantan. Hence, all parties should support the development of IKN Nusantara to be realized on time.

"The development of IKN Nusantara will boost the economy and other sectors in this region. No one should take advantage of this momentum to disrupt the development process," he emphasized.

Apart from observing the infrastructure development, Moeldoko also visited the houses for construction workers and the Sepaku Semoi Dam.

"Housing for workers is very decent. This makes me even more confident that the construction of IKN can be completed quickly," he remarked.

The government has planned to develop IKN in East Kalimantan from 2022 to 2045 that will be divided into five stages of development.

The first phase in 2022-2024 will focus on basic infrastructure, from the provision of drinking water and electricity to waste management.

Phase II in 2025-2029 will prioritize the development of core areas, such as public transportation facilities, both primary and secondary.

Phase III development in 2030-2034 encompasses the development of industrial areas and other sectors, while stages IV and V, which are the final stages, will be carried out in 2035-2039 and 2040-2045 respectively.

"In the final stage, IKN will achieve net zero-carbon emission, with one-hundred percent renewable energy, sustainable industrial development, and become the world's leading city in terms of competitiveness," Sumadilaga explained.
