Walk the talk. You are role models for your fellow officials.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Saturday said that she expects officials who have been sworn into office recently to be trustworthy and inspirational leaders for their institutions and other officials around them.

"Walk the talk. You are role models for your fellow officials. They do not see the director general, whom they only meet once in a while, nor even minister nor deputy minister. But what they see every day is you," Minister Indrawati said in an official statement.

As many as 30 high-ranking officials have been sworn in by the Finance Minister. Eight of them have been promoted to the regional directorate general of customs and excise (DJBC), regional directorate general of treasury (DJPB), regional directorate general of state assets (DJKN), inspectorate general, as well as promoted between echelon 1 units.

Meanwhile, 18 officials from DJBC, DJPB, DJKN, and the inspectorate general have been transferred within their respective units. There are also four officials who have been transferred between units within the first echelon.

The minister highlighted the importance of the new officials demonstrating leadership qualities, and said they were expected to forge cooperation among units within the ministry's scope.

“So, the quality of your leadership truly (shapes) the situation in the Finance Ministry, and the quality of your leadership affects the quality of the Finance Ministry. If the Finance Ministry has been considered as a good ministry all along, that means, your quality is indeed good and you are capable," she elaborated.

Rotations, transfers, and promotions within the ministry are a mechanism to increase collaboration and improve organizational performance, especially among units within echelon 1.

She said the positions that have been entrusted are weighed with the state's expectations of the best achievement and performance one can offer in the given authority. Hence, collaboration is key in organizing the ministry.

"I will say, whatever the (unit), the position you hold today, it is an important (part) of the Finance Ministry. And, it will result in significant impact if you continue to work together and collaborate, no longer working alone," she added.
