Speaking at the opening ceremony of the kick-off meeting of the 10th WWF in Jakarta, Hadimuljono, who concurrently served as vice chairman of the National Organizing Committee, stated that major issues that will be discussed, included water for humans and nature as well as knowledge and innovation.
"Through this kick-off meeting, (discussions will be conducted for) at least six major water resources problems, namely Water for Humans and Nature; Water Security and Prosperity; Disaster Risk Reduction and Management; Cooperation and Hydro-diplomacy; Water and Innovative Finance; as well as Knowledge and Innovation," he remarked.
He noted that measured discussion on the six issues will be conducted through political, thematic, and regional processes that immediately necessitate deliberation to find solutions, innovations, and immediate implementation action plans.
To support the implementation of the 10th WWF in Bali, Hadimuljono stressed that the Indonesian government will play an active role in promoting this event, through the participation of Indonesia, which is entrusted to be the host of both side and special events at the UN Water Conference in New York, the US, on March 22-24, 2023.

WWF is the largest cross-border event that discusses issues related to water resources as well as serves as a forum for sharing experiences and innovations to respond to various challenges in global water management.
The Indonesian government has formed the National Organizing Committee for the 10th WWF, comprising various ministries and supported by experts and professors in the field of water-related issues from reputable universities in Indonesia.
Hadimuljono said that the kick-off meeting, with 1,300 attendees from 56 countries, aims to provide essential information, mobilize, and engage various stakeholders on the forum process for the next 13 months until the forum officially starts in March next year.
The event will be continued with regular pre-summit discussions and workshops to find more concrete solutions and solid innovations to address global water problems for the success of the 10th WWF, the minister stated.
"I sincerely hope that through this kick-off meeting and other pre-summit events up to the 10th WWF, every participant delivers opinions, prepares concrete plans of action, creates active discussions, and fosters the spirit of cooperation to work together towards the realization of our SDGs and a better world," he affirmed.
