... we will relocate at least 16 thousand state apparatus and police and military officers to (the new capital),
Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - The government is currently finalizing the plan for relocating civil state apparatus to the new capital Nusantara in East Kalimantan, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas said.

During a working visit to Malang district, East Java, on Friday, Anas said that state apparatus from 35 government ministries and institutions are expected to relocate to the new capital.

"We have begun the process (to determine) who will relocate (to the new capital) of the 35 ministries and institutions, (and) we have reported the (relocation) percentage of each ministry and institution," he disclosed.

He said that his ministry is preparing the relocation of state apparatus in each government ministry. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has determined that 16,990 state apparatus and security officers will relocate to Nusantara city, he added.

“Mr. President has decided that, according to our initial need, we will relocate at least 16 thousand state apparatus and police and military officers to (the new capital)," he said.

An increase in the budget to build apartments for state apparatus and police and military officers in the new capital has been agreed upon at the latest cabinet meeting, he added.

The decision to develop more apartments aims to ensure that green open areas will remain dominant in the new capital. Moreover, schools, hospitals, and other public facilities there will be developed based on international standards, he said.

"There will be schools and hospitals with international standards, and with the vast green open areas, the air quality will be healthier," Anas added.

Many of the younger civil state apparatus have expressed an interest in moving to the new capital, primarily because of the digital system that would be employed in the new city, the minister noted.

"I think this is not merely moving to a new office, but (to experience a) new civilization. (Not only) the younger generation that is interested to move, but also the older apparatus who are young at heart," he said.
