Jakarta (ANTARA) - Some 7,076 employees of the Law and Human Rights Ministry received the COVID-19 second booster shot to increase their antibody levels against the virus that attacks the respiratory tract.

"The second booster vaccine's administration is the ministry's action in anticipating (transmission of the) COVID-19 virus that still infects the people in Indonesia," Secretary General at the Ministry Police Commissioner General Andap Budhi Revianto noted here, Monday.

The people should not become less wary against the virus amid a decline in the COVID-19 infection rate and revocation of the Public Activity Restriction (PPKM) status.

Thus, the second booster vaccine is one of the measures to prevent the spread of the virus first discovered in Wuhan, China.

"While the government has lifted the PPKM status, we cannot neglect improving our immunity and maintaining our health. Preventing is better than medicating," he emphasized.

Second booster vaccines are administered to employees that have received the first booster vaccine at least six months prior. The vaccines also need to be administered to health workers.

The types of vaccine used for this activity had already received the emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

"The provided vaccines comprise Pfizer and Zifivax. The vaccine's type and dose are given based on the vaccination history of each employee," Revianto explained.

Administration of the second booster vaccine for the ministry's employees is undertaken for five days from Monday (February 20) to Friday (February 24).

To prevent crowding, employees must firstly register and choose the vaccination day based on the available quota.

Employees that receive the second booster vaccine came from the ministry's 11 main units as well as from the Jakarta Regional Office. Meanwhile, other regional offices conducted the second booster vaccination independently.
