Jakarta (ANTARA) - The revitalization of vocational education and training is essential for realizing excellent and competitive human resources (HR), Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said.

"The revitalization of vocational education and training is a strategic effort to realize excellent human resources toward (and achieve the) Golden Indonesia 2045 (vision),” he stressed at the launch of Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 on the revitalization of vocational education and vocational training, which was followed online on Tuesday.

The government has launched Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 given the importance of realizing excellent human resources, he said.

Hartarto, who also serves as director of the national vocational coordination team (TKNV), highlighted the importance of collaboration and synergy for optimizing vocational education and training programs.

"Mutual cooperation is needed to create competent, productive, and competitive human resources to welcome Golden Indonesia, and no less important is to welcome the demographic dividend," he said.

Indonesia will soon attain the demographic dividend, which must be utilized well by strengthening the capacity of quality human resources, he added.

To this end, all stakeholders need to play an active role in efforts to accelerate the realization of excellent human resources, he said.

"Therefore, the revitalization of vocational education and vocational training is expected to become the key to encouraging (the realization of) human resources that are ready to work and ready to contribute to the national development program," he said.

According to the minister, the acceleration of programs that are aimed at creating excellent human resources is expected to support the government's efforts to bring the country out of the middle-income trap.

"Indonesia wishes to get out of the middle-income trap in 2035. One of the efforts is strengthening programs to create excellent and quality human resources," he said.
