Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga has said that the utilization of digital transactions by micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players can make it easier for them to access financial services.

One of the digital payment systems that can be utilized by MSME players is the Quick Response Indonesian Standard (QRIS), he added.

"QRIS is for the digitalization of payment instruments, which will offer convenience to traders," he explained at the “Education of Market, Stall, and MSME Digitalization” event here on Thursday.

The use of QRIS for digital payments among MSMEs, market traders, and stall owners could make it easier for them to apply for bank credit, he added.

According to Sambuaga, when MSME players or traders want to apply for bank credit, the cash flow and financial administration are among the things that become important considerations.

"With digital payments, (they) will be more organized, structured, and transparent," he said.

He further said that one of the essential efforts made by the government has been disseminating information so that digital payment systems become better known among the community.

Support from banks is also essential for the business continuity of MSME players, market traders, and stall owners in Indonesia.

The Ministry of Trade has continued to encourage collaboration between the bank sector and small business players.

"The Ministry of Trade, of course, is collaborating with the financial sector. This an ecosystem that needs to be supported by the banking sector," the deputy minister said.

Distribution head 3 of PT Bank BTPN Syariah, Andy Leon, said that the banking sector is providing full support to MSME players. According to him, there are several programs that BTPN Syariah is offering for small business players.

"Our support for MSMEs is a priority. There are three programs that we are carrying out," he added.

The three programs are providing financial access in the form of giving access to capital for MSME players, market traders, and stall owners; increasing customer education; and opening market access for MSMEs by using digital platforms.
