During the session, a delegate from the Ministry of Transportation, Ayu Kharizsa, made a presentation on Inaportnet.
In a statement issued by the ministry on Thursday, Head of the Foreign Maritime Transport Sub-Directorate at the Ministry of Transportation Rifanie Komara, who also attended the session, said that the digitalization of ports in the country through Inaportnet encouraged their positive performance.
"With a strong commitment, collaboration, and synergy, Indonesia can realize thorough digitalization on port services," he added.
Inaportnet is a part of the Indonesia National Single Window (INSW), which was launched by the government to expedite the process of ships entering ports, loading and unloading activities, and ships leaving ports, which significantly affect the length of time of containers at ports.
Indonesia has made significant achievements with the help of the system developed through Inaportnet and systems developed by the relevant ministries and agencies to ease the delivery of information by the government, port operators, national and foreign shipping companies, and other related maritime communities.
From 2016 until now, 109 ports in Indonesia have implemented Inaportnet, and it is targeted that in 2023, 151 more ports will adopt it. That way, the target of 260 ports implementing Inaportnet is expected to be achieved this year.
The implementation of Inaportnet at ports is a part of Indonesia's commitment to applying an online system to support the loading and unloading of goods, especially containers at ports. This needs to be improved to achieve harmonization between institutions and countries.
Komara further said that Indonesia is among the top 20 countries in the world that have recorded the best port performance, based on data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The data is based on the movements of container ships above 1,000 GT (gross tonnage) in the first half of 2022.
As per the data, Indonesia ranks 9th in port performance, below Canada, Australia, Russia, the US, Germany, Greece, France, and Italy. In the category of average container ship arrivals, Indonesia ranks above the average ports in the world.
The average movement at ports globally reached 20.1; meanwhile, in Indonesia, it reached 24.9. The average turnaround time of container ships in 2022 grew 13.7 percent compared to 2020 and 2021.
