"The purpose of developing KB Village is one of our efforts to improve the quality of human resources, which emphasizes strengthening family and community institutions through program interventions and activities with a human life cycle approach," BKKBN's deputy for training, research, and development Muhammad Rizal Damanik said during a visit to Simalungun district, North Sumatra, on Friday.
A KB Village is a regional unit at the village level, which will seek to empower and strengthen family institutions in all dimensions and improve the quality of human resources, families, and communities, he explained.
The program focuses on developing rural villages in areas where economic, health, education, and infrastructure development are lacking, he noted.
Based on data compiled by the BKKBN, so far, at least 21,290 KB Villages have been established in Indonesia.
North Sumatra region has 1,531 KB Villages with a primary classification of 76.68 percent, a developing classification of 8.95 percent, an independent classification of 7.05 percent, and a sustainable classification of 7.32 percent, Damanik informed.
"As a universal development approach to improve the quality of human resources and optimize the implementation of empowerment to strengthen family institutions, it is necessary to encourage the implementation of KB Villages in every village in accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 3 of 2022 concerning optimizing the implementation of KB Villages," he stressed.
He said that the success of a KB Village can be measured through the programs that have been planned and implemented there.
The villages can be observed through the official KB Village website, while the program’s impact can be measured using the Family Development Index (iBangga), which provides an overview of the roles and functions of the family in creating a quality family and considers the dimensions of peace, independence, and family happiness, he expounded.
Currently, BKKBN is aiming to build KB Villages to improve living standards at the village level in order to create small and quality families; strengthen the Family Development, Population, and Family Planning (Bangga Kencana) Program, which is managed and organized by and for the community; realize Indonesia's development goals; and develop family programs and foster families to achieve the 2030 demographic bonus, Damanik said.
“Hopefully, the visit to the KB Village can provide an overview of one of the KB programs in Indonesia at the village or sub-district level," he said.
