Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Money Management Department of Bank Indonesia (BI), Marlison Hakim, stated that the central bank had prepared Rp195 trillion in cash to meet the community's monetary requirements ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

"Based on the national banking withdrawal plan, BI is preparing cash amounting to Rp195 trillion for the 2023 Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, or an increase of 8.22 percent as compared to last year," Hakim noted in Jakarta, Monday.

To meet the public's need for cash during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, the banking industry has also committed to opening service points at 5,066 offices across Indonesia, an increase of eight percent from the previous year, he pointed out.

"This means that banks respond to community mobilization and economic growth by meeting the needs of the community," Hakim remarked.

According to Hakim, BI has also begun implementing national service on a wholesale basis through banking with the Association of Indonesian People's Credit Banks (Perbarindo) and the Association of Indonesian Retailers (Aprindo).

"Trials have been conducted several times, and today, we are starting to carry out the official implementation," he remarked.

BI will also conduct integrated mobile banking with vehicles in Jakarta and other areas.

Some 599 points will be available in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi areas, especially for mobile banking, he remarked.

The activity will also be conducted at terminals, markets, and rest areas, while the BI Homecoming Cares will be available at several ferry routes, and special BI mobile banking along the river in South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Sumatra, Hakim stated.

Various services during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr carried out by BI can be accessed through smartphone applications and also directly in person, he stated.

"Hopefully, this will inspire banks to improve their service to the community," Hakim concluded.
