The support was voiced by Deputy for Investment Promotion of BKPM Nurul Ichwan in response to the construction of a new factory for a paint manufacturer in the Cikande area, Serang District, Banten, which applies the green factory concept, thereby reducing carbon emissions by up to seven percent.
"We hope that this innovation can serve as an example for other companies in their efforts to achieve zero carbon emissions in Indonesia by 2060," he noted in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday.
Earlier, paint producer Mowilex Indonesia had expressed readiness to reduce carbon emissions by up to seven percent through the construction of a green concept factory in Cikande, Serang District, Banten, which was inaugurated by Deputy for Investment Promotion of BKPM Nurul Ichwan.
Director of PT Mowilex Indonesia Novina Tjahjadi stated that the factory building, with a green concept, is equipped with the latest production machine technology, water treatment without waste, and testing in an outdoor laboratory to produce and test high-quality paints.
In addition, Tjahjadi said her side had switched from using the diesel version of the forklift to an electric version of it.
"We are proud that this has been able to have a positive impact, namely reducing carbon consumption. We will ensure that all our activities are always based on the environment to protect consumers," she affirmed.
According to Tjahjadi, the company will no longer use lead in wood and iron paint starting in 2019, so it is carbon neutral and always ensures to educate consumers and shops to sell products without lead.
In addition, the company is working with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry to plant 50 thousand mangrove trees that will protect the coastline and capture carbon.
