We wish to show that the programs have had a direct impact on the public.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry's Language Development and Guidance Agency (Badan Bahasa) conducts dissemination of information on the language and literature priority program through ways, including that undertaken in Medan, North Sumatra.

This dissemination of information is intended to sharpen the implementation strategy for the language and literature priority program, so that it can be effective up to the regional level, Badan Bahasa's Secretary Hafidz Muksin remarked.

"This activity is an obligation for each government institution, as a form accountability of the program and budget performance as well as public information transparency," he noted through a statement on Monday.

Through this activity, the public can gain information about Badan Bahasa's programs as well as utilize them for the advancement of language and literature.

The dissemination of information on the program also underlines the importance of collaboration with the House of Representatives' (DPR's) Commission X, as the ministry's strategic partner, to convince that the approved programs in the budget discussion have been executed well.

"We wish to show that the programs have had a direct impact on the public," he stated.

Head of North Sumatra's Language Center Hidayat Widyanto explained that public participation is crucial to ensure that policies created by the government are also the result of the people's aspirations and needs.

Public participation helps Badan Bahasa to identify language issues in society and ensures that the formulated policies can be effective as well as receive support from regional governments.

"This is important especially because the people, as the language users and actors, have more experience and understanding concerning language and literature," Widiyanto noted.

He stated that the North Sumatra provincial government established Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2017 on Indonesian Language Prioritization and Regional Language and Literature Preservation.

This was formulated as a form of the regional government's support for the development and protection of language and literature.

Meanwhile, DPR Commission X member Sofyan Tan assured his support to the ministry's various policies concerning efforts to improve literacy interest among members of the younger generation.
