Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The provincial government of Bengkulu is currently preparing to distribute as many as 1 thousand free liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders to low-income people in 10 districts and cities in the province.

Head of Bengkulu’s Social Affairs Office Iskandar Zo informed that his office and the Population and Civil Registration Office of the province are currently matching the data of prospective beneficiaries of the free LPG cylinder assistance program.

“Currently, we are still matching the data on the prospective beneficiaries with the Population and Civil Registration Office. There are 1 thousand 3kg (type) LPG cylinders that will be distributed to 10 districts and cities in Bengkulu," he said here on Friday.

According to him, the LPG cylinder assistance will be targeted at low-income recipients who have not received such assistance from the government before.

He further said that the provincial government has allocated 100 LPG cylinders for each district and city in Bengkulu.

The distribution of the assistance to the targeted beneficiaries is projected to be completed no later than the end of 2023.

Zo said that his office has sent a letter to the representative office of the Bengkulu Province Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) so that they can assist with the distribution of the LPG cylinder assistance.

"We are also seeking support in terms of supervision from the representative office of the BPKP regarding the distribution (of assistance) in the Prosperous Bengkulu Card Program and the distribution of the free LPG cylinders," he said.

The step will be taken to avoid problems that may arise during the distribution of the assistance later, he said.
