This balancer market activity will be held starting from April 13 to 16, 2023.
Palangka Raya, C Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Central Kalimantan government has prepared 37 thousand low-priced staple food packages that will be sold in five districts to support people in welcoming the 2023 Eid al-Fitr and as part of inflation control measures.

The provincial government will hold the Ramadhan Balancer Market in the districts of West Kotawaringin, East Kotawaringin, Sukamara, Lamandau, and Seruyan, assistant for economy and development to the regional secretary of Central Kalimantan, Leonard S. Ampung, informed here on Tuesday.

Of the 37 thousand low-priced staple food packages prepared under the Ramadhan Balancer Market program, 15 thousand will be sold in East Kotawaringin, 10 thousand in West Kotawaringin, five thousand in Seruyan, four thousand in Sukamara, and three thousand in Lamandau.

"This balancer market activity will be held starting from April 13 to 16, 2023," he said.

According to him, apart from supporting people ahead of Eid, the program is also aimed at curbing inflation because the supply and price stability of several commodities will need to be maintained.

"The implementation is by providing staple food packages, which are cheaper than market prices in general," he said.

The provincial government of Central Kalimantan will provide a subsidy of Rp100 thousand per package. Therefore, people will only need to pay Rp50 thousand out of the actual price of Rp150 thousand per package.

Ampung assured that the program would not only be carried out in the western part of Central Kalimantan but also will be extended to the areas of Barito watersheds and other districts in the province after the Ramadan Balancer Market in the five districts wraps up.

Meanwhile, Head of the Trade and Industry Office of Central Kalimantan Aster Bonawaty said that apart from her office, the program is also being supported by several other offices in the province, such as the Food Security Office, the Horticultural Food Crops and Animal Husbandry Office, the Marine Office, and the Energy and Mineral Resources Office.
