Jakarta (ANTARA) - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan has urged youngsters to contribute to the development of the economy and the business ecosystem by setting up micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"We build environments that have business ecosystems to progress. MSMEs, modern retailers, export financing institutions, banks, and marketplaces are one unit to create a business ecosystem," he said in a written statement issued here on Saturday.

Opening stalls is one of the ways for people to get used to contributing to forming a business ecosystem. Hasan invited youngsters to start their own businesses to develop the nation's economy in the trade sector.

On a micro scale, for example, youngsters can open shops or stalls. One such stall that was inaugurated recently was Muhammadiyah Ahmad Dahlan (MuAD) Stall in Metro, Lampung, on Thursday (April 13, 2023).

"This is what happened in China, South Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand. Thus, they started to 'attack' the world market. Indonesia is also expected to follow those countries," the minister said.

He further said that the role of youngsters is expected to become an important factor in Indonesia's progress in the future.

Indonesian youngsters must continue to be productive and inspire others to create harmony and help build an advanced and prosperous Indonesia.

The trade sector can become a strategic sector where youngsters can develop themselves and work more productively.

In his statement, Hasan also said that the prices of staple goods ahead of Eid al-Fitr are relatively stable. The success in maintaining the stability of staple goods prices must be felt by the community.

"Ahead of Eid, Alhamdulillah (thank God), the prices of staple foods are stable. Usually, ahead of Eid, the prices will increase. This is the first time that the prices of staple goods have tended to decrease ahead of Eid," he pointed out.

He gave the example of eggs, which are usually priced at Rp32 thousand per kilogram, but are currently selling for Rp28 thousand per kilogram.

"The prices of staple goods are expected to remain stable until Eid," he said.
