"As of April 10, 2023, we have recorded as many as 182 submissions of Letters of Intent (LOIs) from business actors originating from 16 countries, with 50 percent of them being from Indonesia, while most of the rest are from Singapore, Malaysia, the US, France, and China," Wicaksono noted in Hannover, Germany, Tuesday (April 18).
“Some people make things happen, some watch things happen, while others wonder what has happened,” Wicaksono said while quoting Eleanor Roosevelt.
This statement reflects that Wicaksono was quite inspired to invite the dozens of seminar participants, some of whom were believed to be potential investors, industry actors, and journalists coming from several countries, to support the development of Nusantara, Indonesia's future capital city.
During his presentation, the IKN official enthusiastically showcased the various sectors that the Indonesian Government has to offer to investors that reflects IKN's jargon of Kota Dunia untuk Semua, or World City for All.
This reflects the high level of interest of investors in competing to partake in the IKN development process.
The potential fields for investments refer to various sectors, with 22 LOIs being submitted for technology sectors, 21 for energy, 15 for education, 15 for housing infrastructure, and the rest for health, waste management, office buildings, and some other sectors.
Meanwhile, OIKN Secretary Achmad Jaka Santos Wijaya, for his part, highlighted the government's long-term vision for IKN. Apart from the IKN concept being the world's smart and sustainable forest city, the government is also committed to preserving more green spots in an area of 256 thousand hectares.
Currently, he said, the government is targeting to build IKN while preserving 65 percent of the tropical forest area, and 35 percent of the area is to be set aside for the development of the smart city.
He also noted that as many as 22 residential towers for workers are expected to be completed gradually by this year. They (the workers) will be the first residents to build the capital city's infrastructure.
The first phase of development will be focused on building a Central Government Area that will comprise the Presidential Palace, Ministerial Buildings with sharing office concept, and also housing for state civil apparatuses as well as for police and military personnel that will occupy an area of 920 square kilometers.
"We hope that more and more world-class investors will be able to take benefits from investing in Nusantara. We will provide the best facilities for ease of doing business in the future capital city of Indonesia, Nusantara," he affirmed.
The facilities include tax holiday, tax breaks of up to 100 percent for investors in the infrastructure field, and some other sectors, including the Financial Centre Region sector.
Moreover, the government will provide super tax deductions, import duty, convenience for capital goods import, and free import duty for materials and goods.
