Garut, West Java (ANTARA) - Travelers returning to their hometowns during the Eid exodus period must not hesitate to use the facilities provided by police or other institutions for their safety and comfort, the Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) has said.

"We have healthcare services here. Do not hesitate (to come) and check your blood tension, and if you are tired, come here (to rest),” Baharkam Chief Commissioner General Fadil Imran said while making a visit to an integrated security post in Limbangan here on Wednesday.

Residents must prepare themselves properly before embarking on the long journey to their hometown by ensuring the roadworthiness of their vehicles and their personal health, including the health of each family member joining the journey, he added.

The government has provided several facilities along the exodus route that travelers can access, including when they are tired and need rest, he said.

"Use the facilities the government has provided for you," the commissioner general stressed.

He affirmed that the police will not only strive to maintain the smoothness of the traffic during the Eid exodus period but also ensure the safety and security of residents joining the exodus.

Residents must be happy along their journey and arrive safely at their destinations during the Eid exodus period this year, Imran said.

He affirmed that, as observed during his inspection with his entourage, all facilities along the exodus route are safe, comfortable, and ready to cater to travelers.

"(Facilities) at the southern coast route are adequate. There are rest areas, mosques, car repair shops, and others. Perhaps, the rest area must be expanded to allow more travelers embarking on a long journey to rest," he said.
