"The TNI and Polri are ready to provide security for the people who will travel, who may be afraid and are worried that there might be criminal activities," he said in a statement, Thursday.
Prabowo made the statement while inspecting traffic flow from the Jakarta-Merak Toll until Bakauheni Port, Lampung, aboard a helicopter along with TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono and Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi.
This inspection was conducted to ensure that the execution and security of the Eid al-Fitr 1444 H/2023 proceeds safely and smoothly on several homecoming routes.
Based on the monitoring result, traffic flow on the Jakarta-Merak Toll, Bakauheni Port, Merak Port to Terbanggi Besar Road was smooth and orderly.
During the airborne inspection of the traffic flow, the TNI commander and the minister would also examine the homecoming flow service and security at Bakauheni Port, Merak Port to the Terbanggi Besar Toll, according to the statement.
The four-star general underlined that the TNI, along with related stakeholders, will provide the best-possible service to secure the homecoming flow for the 2023 Eid al-Fitr.
"The preparation done to realize the homecoming flow service and security is far better as compared to the previous years," Prabowo said.
In accordance with President Joko Widodo's instruction, all parties should do their best in regulating and securing the homecoming flow in 2023.
As many as 123.8 million people are estimated to return home. This figure is 45 percent higher as compared to the previous year.
Prabowo also outlined several strategies conducted to ensure that homecoming proceeds safely and smoothly, including implementing traffic engineering starting from contraflow, one way, and odd-even policy.
