The first factor is that the people should always monitor the development of information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and watch out for extreme weather that occurs in several waters.
From BMKG's data, in the west beach of Sumatra and south beach of Java, waves reached heights of above 2.5 meters that should be watched out for, he noted during the coordination meeting here on Monday.
However, the waves in Merak-Bakauheni and Ketapang-Gilimanuk are still relatively safe for travelers, he added.
Moreover, he highlighted the anticipatory effort related to the air balloon release ceremony held in several regions that did not comply with the regulations that can in turn endanger flight safety.
According to Sumadi, the government had provided the license for the air balloon release activity in two regions: Pekalongan and Wonosobo (Central Java).
"There are indications that the air balloon release activity violations occurred in Kulon Progo, Purworejo, and Ponorogo," he noted.
"To this end, I already asked Airnav, Angkasa Pura I and II to coordinate with the police to carry out monitoring of such activities," he added.
Moreover, the minister reported that for the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow, the number of traffic accidents decreased quite significantly, i.e., 33 percent as compared to 2022.
"I thank residents, who had to carry out homecoming travel carefully. I expect that this figure does not increase during the return flow," he remarked.
On the occasion, he also once again urged the public to avoid returning on Monday and Tuesday or days on which the peak of vehicle congestion for the 2023 Eid return flow occurred.
Thus, the people should return from their homecoming holiday starting from Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, he stated.
